FEI Mitch Halbrich Memorial Scholarship

Mitch Halbrich worked in the Baltimore area for over 30 years as an executive placement recruiter in the accounting and finance industry. Mitch was especially adept at making valuable and lasting connections with everyone with whom he came in touch, fueling his success as a recruiter and a close friend. Most recently, he held the position of senior director at Randstad Professionals, where he was a mentor and a top performer.

Mitch also was very involved in his local community. He was a member of the Baltimore Center Club's board of governors and spent time on the Y of Central Maryland's board. He was seen by many as a source of job placement acumen; and as such, he contributed regularly to the Baltimore Business Journal, often writing for the "Back to Work" blog and the "Career Coach" column.

Mitch was an avid sports fan and fun-loving person who enjoyed attending Ravens and Orioles games just as much as the tailgates that preceded them. He was also a strong supporter of the arts and had a strong passion for music, attending music concerts and theatre shows virtually every night of the week.

Mitch started his education at University of Florida in 1974 and then made his move to Ocean City, MD, in 1976. During that time, he put his inherent networking and sales skills to perfect use as a telescope picture photographer on the beach.

Mitch worked hard for everything he acquired in life and lived by the motto "Halbrichs never quit." As such, he resumed his education at then Salisbury State University where he earned his degree in accounting. Shortly thereafter, he began his career in the audit department at Ernst & Young, which propelled him into his niche in the recruiting industry.

Mitch was diagnosed with lung cancer in October 2015 and fought the only way he knew how – with vigor and heart. He lost his battle on November 4, 2016, at the age of 61.
